I am not a local but I fish DCL just about every year. I am also an avid follower of this message board and find it fantastic! I wanted to comment on the issue of a large ice tournament. I agree with all of the locals. I have found that a fishery can get overfished very easily when the ice is on. I have ice fished Devils Lake through the ice several times. It used to be a great perch lake. Last year the catches were down significantly in both size and quantity. I believe it is due to havy ice fishing pressure. Alot of big females are taken before they drop their eggs. I think due to that it has hurt the lake significantly. I am not going back this year. I saw the same thing at the Thunderbay River outside if Alpena Michigan. One winter the big employer laid off a bunch of workers for the winter and they all ice fished the heck out of it. The next spring/summer the fishing suffered. I think you guys are on the right track to keep the ice fishing at a minimum. Don't let your lake suffer like many others. I love the lake and hope it stays a nice little "secret". That's my two cents. I wsh all of you the best of luck. BE CAREFUL.
